The dark sky lighting ordinance was adopted by the Town of Paonia Board of Trustees on July 28th, 2022, clearing the way for Paonia to achieve official recognition from the International Dark-Sky Association as a certified International Dark Sky Community.

Correction - The article states: "Watson said $1,000 in energy savings have already been made with some of the recent street light changes." In fact, the Town of Paonia is saving over $1000 per month on energy savings from the new streetlights - that's over $12,000 per year every year!
